Our trail-ride takes us from the foothills of the Carpathian Mountains over more than 200 km in 6 days through the picturesque rolling hills of Transylvania. Medieval villages, shepherd camps, and a beautiful landscape inhabited by a variety of rare bird species are the characteristics of this journey. There are just a few spots left in Europe, where time seems to stand still. The central part of Transylvania definitely is one of them. The hills seem to be made for endless canters on horseback and we are convinced that there is no other region in Europe which matches the riding experience in Transylvania.
Our ride starts in Sinca Noua at the foot of the Carpathians and leads us across the Olt Valley into the Transylvania hills. We ride mainly on grass-covered trails and across pastures, and occasionally come through oak and hornbeam forests.
On the way, we see and experience an abundant birdlife – lesser spotted eagles, bee-eaters, hoopoes, and golden oriole, just to name a few.
Without roads, power lines, or antennas, it sometimes is hard to tell in which century we are, and the horse-carriages and shepherds convey a feeling of ancientness, as do the many remains of the old Saxon culture with its 800 years old fortified churches.

On our way, we stay overnight with local families in small villages, in over 300 years old renovated rectories, in beautiful wooden manors or in private guesthouses. We’re always welcomed with cordial hospitality and get a deep insight into rural Transylvanian life.
We ride in groups of up to 8 people and are accompanied by two guides. We cover between 25 and 38 km daily which takes us four to seven hours, including a short lunch break on a scenic spot in between. The rides are rather fast with a good mix of walking, trotting, and cantering.
